megatroll interviews SNOWFLAKE
so start off by telling us who is in the "band", what instruments you use, and where the name SNOWFLAKE comes from...

Re: megatroll interviews SNOWFLAKE
well it's me and Seth. i play bass usually, and seth plays drums. we both do vocals and fuck around with everything we can find in the studio- one track seth rubbed a hammer and a crowbar together to make noise, on another one we hooked up a cable to a speaker and plugged it into an amp and swung it wildly around the room. we just do whatever. i play cymbals with a hammer sometimes.
the name didn't mean anything when i came up with it, it was just a random word i used when making our myspace page, i expected we'd come up with something better but we just never did. later when we decided to not ever write any songs, it was the idea that we never played the same thing twice, everything we did was a beautiful and unique snowflake... ha. it's a joke, not really meant to be taken seriously.

i really like the one-off idea of performing, how do you get into the mood for it?, like do you fast for a day or watch horror movie marathons or is it just booze?, and how bad does your throat hurt after all that screaming?...

Re: megatroll interviews SNOWFLAKE
i just am always in the mood to pick up a guitar and thrash, we get wicked wasted on booze of course. when i had a prescription for ritalin/adderall, we would crush up all that i had at the time and stick it under our tongues.
we'll sometimes get together the day before and work out an Ableton sequence, or just to jam and see where our heads are at. it's really off the cuff, very little is planned. usually if anything is planned, the plan gets ignored or forgotten.
and yes my throat is raw for a couple of days after the show. we both scream at the top of our lungs almost the entire time.

Re: megatroll interviews SNOWFLAKE
well yeah, i started out by making music. i played trumpet for 4 years, and have been on guitar for 10. i've learned enough about how to play music that i can ignore it all and safely sound competent. i can't really shred, but i can fake it and make enough pickscratchyfingerstretchy noises to fool you.
i listen to a lot of semi-underground-sort-of-not-cool metal, shit like Converge and Pig Destroyer, Lightning Bolt, Napalm Death, load/metal blade/relapse what-have-you. i also really like Yes and Rush and prog-rock and shit. i've been listening to Portal, the death/black metal band way too much, and also the new Deerhunter album has started to get a little worn out around here.
i looked in my trunk, i found an old moldy Time magazine i stole from the dentist but no spandex.

wow, you said 'really like', even the classic rock stations around here dont play them, i will email both bands to let them know they still have at least one fan ...
so where do you see the noise business( ) in say five years?, are you looking to get rich?, and if not, then how will you make money in the future?, nude model?...

Re: megatroll interviews SNOWFLAKE
hopefully something involving software, but probably will end up doing manual labor til i die.
noise has no business in business.
noise has no business in business.
Re: megatroll interviews SNOWFLAKE
manual labor is good for the soul, even glassblowing is manual labor, and right now i am helping out on a landscaping job, laying sod today, and in the fall i will be cutting and delivering firewood, labor makes for good meditation, unless some jackass wants to blare some country music...
and i think its "business has no business in noise"...
so what kind of labor do you do?

these days i've been moving furniture between houses. lame shit.
i hope to build things or something, but i don't really have any idea how to get into that field.
